COSCO Shipping has opened a new shipping route to Indonesia, promoting new developments in maritime trade.

On December 23, 2024, the new Indonesian route YIX of COSCO Shipping's Xinxin Shipping raised its maiden voyage sail at Yangpu Port in Hainan, marking the beginning of a new journey for maritime transport between China and ASEAN.

This route is equipped with 3 vessels of 1700TEU type, with stable transport capacity. The route covers ports in Hainan Yangpu, Guangzhou in China, as well as ports in Indonesia, Singapore, and other countries, with the order of port calls including Yangpu, Nansha, Jakarta, Semarang, and Singapore.

The opening of the new Indonesian route YIX is of great significance. It effectively connects the overseas demand of e-commerce enterprises in South China with the development of Hainan Free Trade Port. By building efficient shipping services, it establishes a new link between China and Indonesia and even the entire Southeast Asia region, promoting coordinated regional economic development. At the same time, this route also provides regular service schedules, offering a 'stabilizer' for freight transport in trade exchanges, allowing enterprises to arrange production and sales plans more stably.

As a new maritime Silk Road, the opening of the new Indonesian route YIX marks the steady advancement of COSCO Shipping's strategy in emerging markets in ASEAN. COSCO Shipping stated that it will take this opportunity to optimize its service network in Indonesia to continuously enhance regional connectivity levels, inject new momentum into the industrial upgrading and trade innovation of Hainan Free Trade Port, and provide more support for e-commerce enterprises in South China to accelerate market response speed.
