China does not recognize the so-called conclusions of the U.S. Section 301 investigation. We firmly oppose the U.S. imposing additional 301 tariffs on semiconductor products from China.

At the regular press conference held by the Ministry of Commerce on the same day, a reporter asked: On December 23, U.S. Eastern Time, the Office of the United States Trade Representative released the results of its Section 301 investigation into China’s semiconductor policies, announcing additional Section 301 tariffs on certain Chinese semiconductor products. Currently, the tariff rate is 0%; however, after 18 months—in June 2027—the tariff rate will be raised. What is the Ministry of Commerce’s comment on this?

He Yongqian said, U.S. unilateral tariffs violate WTO rules, disrupt the international economic and trade order, destabilize global industrial and supply chains, harm the interests of U.S. businesses and consumers, and hurt others without benefiting oneself.

China urges the U.S. side to promptly correct its wrong practices and lift the relevant measures. China is willing to work with the U.S. side, on the basis of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation, to resolve each other’s concerns through equal-footed dialogue and consultations. Should the U.S. side persist in harming China’s legitimate rights and interests, China will firmly take necessary measures to resolutely safeguard its own rights and interests.
