NPWP NO. is the taxpayer identification number in Indonesia (Nomor Pokok Wajib Pajak), which is a unique identification code assigned to taxpayers by the Indonesian tax authorities, usually consisting of 16 digits. This number has uniqueness and importance in Indonesia's tax system and serves as an important credential for interaction between taxpayers and the tax authorities.

According to the new regulations from Indonesian customs, all cargo shipped to Indonesia must have the recipient provide a 16-digit NPWP NO. This requirement aims to strengthen Indonesia's tax management and customs supervision, ensuring that all imported goods are correctly recorded and taxed.

When the recipient is "TO ORDER" or "TO ORDER OF BANK", meaning the recipient has not yet been determined or the goods need to be delivered according to bank instructions, the notifier (the person who needs to be notified when the goods arrive in Indonesia) must also provide their NPWP NO. This regulation ensures that even if the recipient is not yet determined, customs can obtain the necessary tax information through the notifier.

If the recipient or notifier cannot provide a valid 16-digit NPWP NO., or if the information provided is incorrect, it may result in the goods being detained by Indonesian customs, being fined, or incurring other additional costs. These costs will need to be borne by the customer. This new regulation will take effect immediately from January 10, 2025, and all cargo shipped to Indonesia must comply with this regulation.
