On March 16, local time, in the port of Evyap, Turkey, a leased container ship of Yangming Shipping crashed into a shore crane, causing three cranes to collapse and dozens of containers to be damaged.
In response, Yangming Shipping issued a statement on the collision of the "YM Witness" ship at Evyap Port in Turkey.
Yangming Shipping said in a statement that it had been informed by the shipowner that the "YM Witness" ship chartered by Yangming Shipping collided with the wharf and gantry crane while berthing at Evyap Port in Turkey on March 16.
At present, the shipowner and relevant maritime departments are jointly conducting inquiries and a comprehensive investigation of the incident. According to the shipowner, there were no casualties after the accident and no marine pollution was caused for the time being.
Yangming Shipping said that the "YM Witness" was deployed on MD3, the Far East round-trip Mediterranean route. The company will provide more information as soon as possible on schedule adjustments, cargo transshipment and follow-up arrangements.
