Good News: Indonesia Imported Cosmetic Products Customs Clearance Announces New Deal (with Customs Clearance Document Requirements)

Recently, under the instruction of Indonesian President Joko, Trade Minister Decree No. 8 of 2024 (Permendag 8/2024) was issued urgently and took effect immediately. The urgent issuance of Trade Minister Order No. 8 in 2024 is regarded as a remedy for the large number of containers stranded in Indonesian ports caused by the promulgation of Trade Minister Order No. 36 in Permendag (2023/2023).

Based on: Permendag 8/2024

For the types of goods listed in Appendix I and Appendix II (including cosmetics, 136 HS electronic products, traditional medicines, 37 HS footwear, etc.), only the import supervision report (LS) is required for customs clearance.

Requirements for customs clearance documents:

Import Licence (PI) (not required)

Import Supervision Report (LS)

Import declaration (SKI)

After 17 May 2024

Basis: Permendag 8/2024 import policies and regulations

Requirements for customs clearance documents:

Import Supervision Report (LS)

After the introduction of Permendag 8/2024, cosmetics arriving at Indonesian ports after March 10, 2024 can be exempted from submitting import license (PI), and only need to submit import supervision report (LS) and import declaration form (SKI) to go through customs clearance procedures.

For cosmetics companies exporting to Indonesia, it is good news. Please note that the two documents need to be processed before the goods arrive at the Indonesian port.
