Detention fee (DETENTION)

Refers to the cost of exceeding the free container period, that is, using the shipping company’s box for more than the free box usage time, the shipping company will charge you a demurrage fee, which is generally calculated on a daily basis. There is also a charge for container service. Generally, the free period is 7 days, depending on the shipping company's regulations.

Demurrage (DEMURRAGE)

It is also called the storage fee, that is, the fee that exceeds the free storage period and is collected by the port. Containers can be stacked on the dock for free for this period. Normally, it is 7 days, but in some ports it is about 3 days, depending on the port regulations.
